Andrea Ellis (BMus, RMT) is a pianist and mezzo soprano based out of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, and is an active member of the province’s music community as a music educator, pianist and vocalist.
Andrea is a Registered Music Teacher (RMT) with the PEI Registered Music Teachers Association (PEIRMTA) and is a certified teacher with the Royal Conservatory of Music. From beginner to advance piano, and beginner/intermediate voice, she manages a thriving music studio of approximately 25 students who receive one-on-one, customized learning.
Presently, Andrea serves as Director of Music at St. Andrew’s United Church in Vernon Bridge, PE. A founding member of Sirens, PEI’s nationally award-winning women’s choral ensemble, she is entering her sixth season with the group. She is the pianist for several Island choirs including the Indian River Festival Chorus, the Amabilè Singers, and Harmonia Girls Choir; as well, she works as a freelance collaborative pianist performing regularly with music students at UPEI. Andrea serves as Vice President and Public Relations Coordinator of the PEIRMTA.
Andrea studied piano with Dr. Frances Gray at the University of Prince Edward Island and holds a Bachelor of Music; in addition, she has participated in a number of coaching sessions and masterclasses, including sessions with Angela Cheng and Peter Tiefenbach. Ms. Ellis is a two-time member of the National Youth Choir of Canada (2010 with Dr. Victoria Meredith, and 2012 with Ivars Taurins). She has studied voice privately with Sung Ha Shin-Bouey and Suzanne Campbell.
